George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners @ Rocking The Docks, Lewes, DE – 07.26.23

Legendary funk musician George Porter Jr. & Running Pardners played Rocking the Docks in Lewes, Delaware on July 26th 2023.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too familiar with George Porter, Jr. and a lot of NOLA style funk music. I know popular funk stuff you hear on the radio but not too much from George; perhaps I heard a few from The Meters. I’m sure I’ve heard him playing on stuff from other musicians as well. I learned a lot, hearing him talk about music with Melody Trucks at The Room at Cedar Grove, along with some funny stories as well. Definitely got a crash course of his music the next night at Rocking the Docks.

The sun was setting a little earlier this night so got for some cooler photos. Once the sun set, I wanted to get even more photos since the stage lighting was there and made for some different types of photos. Then Melody Trucks came out to jam with George, so that was cool to photograph as well.
