Melody Trucks & The Fitzkee Brothers @ Rocking The Docks, Lewes, DE – 07.26.23

Melody Trucks (daughter of the late Butch Trucks, The Allman Brothers drummer) along with locals Fitzkee Brothers opened up for George Porter, Jr. & Running Pardners at Rocking the Docks in Lewes, Delaware on July 26th 2023.

The previous night I got to see Melody Trucks, Fitzkee Brothers and George Porter do a meet & greet at Paul Cullen’s The Room at Cedar Grove. Everyone was really nice and I was talking to Melody about living in Florida. You can imagine where that topic landed on. After hearing her speak with George about losing her dad years ago, I felt like giving her a hug because losing a parent is just awful.

Back to Rocking the Docks, it was a bright evening for this set, in the middle of summer. I wish these shows were later in the night just from a photography aspect since stage lighting makes shows usually look better (unless it’s just red lighting). Although, I do like these concerts getting over by 9. Melody was performing by the bongos and the rest of the band were playing their instruments, so I tried to get various angles and shots of each member without being in the audience’s way.

I tried to go up on the stage a few times to get the bay in the background and get some photos of the members I couldn’t really get up close on the ground. The benefits from having all access. Think next year I need a step stool or ladder, I’m too damn short haha.
