Spring Heeled Jack @ Apple Stomp: Day 2, Irving Plaza, NYC – 6.1.13
June 7, 2013 | Concert Photography
Judging by how Spring Heeled Jack played at Skalapalooza in the Fall, I was really excited for their set…especially when they had Tyler on trumpet and Vinny Nobile on trombone! Their set definitely didn’t disappoint!
For more extensive review of the Apple Stomp, read my reviews of Day 1 and Day 2.
When I saw Mike do a jump once on stage, I was pissed because I missed it but thankfully he did another one! That ended up being one of my favorite shots of Day 2. I was on the side watching their set at the end, and managed to get a close up on Mike crowd surfing and singing. While I prefer to have it where you can see more, I wasn’t really in a good position to get his whole body in the shot. With this set, the lighting works in some photos and others I didn’t like it so I switched it to black & white. Sometimes black & white just looks better regardless of the color of the lighting. Either way, these guys are a lot of fun to photograph. Hopefully I’ll be able to film an acoustic session with them next time for BeforeTheConcert.com. We were suppose to last weekend but things just got too hectic.
