Titus Andronicus @ Terminal 5, NYC – 3-15-2011

March 24, 2011 | Concert Photography

New Jersey rock band Titus Andronicus opened up for the Pogues on March 15th, 2001 at Terminal 5 in NYC. I never heard of their music before but saw their name being thrown around a lot lately. While I wouldn’t necessarily say I was a fan of the music, they certainly were fun to shoot.

I reviewed the show on ReadJunk.com so be sure to read my in-depth review there.

For Titus Andronicus’ set, I mainly focused on guitarist/vocalist Patrick Stickles and guitarist/fiddler Amy Klein for most of the set. They were the two most energetic of the bunch, plus photo-genetic as well. They just had good poses or facial expressions. The lighting was better for them as well. The first song was a little dark, but the colors got better. Occasionally there would be flashes of white, bright lighting which is always nice. For this set, I stuck with the 70-200mm f2.8 and the 50mm f1.4. They were towards the middle of the stage so I could get away with that. I would think these guys would be a lot of fun to shoot in a crazier setting, somewhere like a Maxwells or Mercury Lounge. That is, if you felt like getting in the crowd and snapping off your flash a ton; which I’m not really a fan of.
