Carbon Leaf @ Gramercy Theatre, NYC – 11.17.17

Carbon Leaf played Gramercy Theatre in NYC on November 17th and you can read my full review over at ReadJunk.com.
The last time I shot Carbon Leaf, it was an outside show 3 years ago in the middle of the Summer. So yeah, it’s been a long time which is unheard of when they are one of my top 5 favorite bands of all-time. They are one of my favorites to photograph as well because they are just fun to shoot, they have amazing lighting design and just entertaining sets each night.
I wasn’t told I had a song limit which was extremely awesome. I didn’t want to be in the way of other audience members and didn’t want to push it with getting yelled at by the bouncers so I shot 5 songs in the pit. I then watched and shot from the back of the stadium seating for the majority of the show. It’s always good to shoot up there at least once per show when you’re at Gramercy. I went back down towards the end of the show when the crowd thinned out a little.
For this set, I shot with the 24-70mm f2.8 lens as well as 14-24 and 70-200mm f2.8 lenses in spots. The lighting was fantastic and I wish all bands had as good as lighting as they always do. You’re guaranteed to have a fun night and get great photos if you go see Carbon Leaf live!
