Jack Skuller @ Maxwells, Hoboken NJ – 8.8.12
August 12, 2012 | Concert Photography
16 year old Jack Skuller opened up the Push Stars show last Wednesday night. Jack’s from Hoboken and going to be on the Disney Channel’s The Next Big Thing this Fall. He played some original songs and played some covers as well.
Sure, Disney Channel & Radio Disney aren’t exactly my thing but Jack’s performance still impressed me a lot. This kid is 16 years old and already performing in clubs. If I was 16 years old and doing what he was doing, I’d probably be sweating bullets and crapping myself. The potential for hecklers would be at an all-time high, but I guess it depends on the crowd. The Push Stars crowd were respectful and clapped after most songs. Jack covered some Beatles, The Black Keys, and others. I think Jack’s got a good voice and looks like Joseph Gordon Levitt so I have a feeling it’s just a matter of time before he blows up. I actually think with his voice and style of play, he’d be great for beachy reggae/surf rock like Jack Johnson.
Unfortunately, the lighting isn’t great at Maxwells so I didn’t get that many decent shots of Jack Skuller. For opening acts, they dim the lighting but when the Push Stars came on, the left the main lights on. Oh well. I did the best I could.
