San Francisco Vacation – Day 1 – 4.28.12
May 8, 2012 | Travel Photography
Last vacation my wife and I had was our honeymoon and that’s almost been a year now. This time we decided to go to San Francisco for a week. We’ve never been to California before and we heard fantastic things about SF so we (mostly Kristen) had a ton of stuff planned for the week. Originally, I was planning the trip around Madness playing in San Francisco in April but we decided to go 2 weeks later. Oh well, hopefully they will play NYC sometime soon.
Our flight took off from JFK, which I’ve never flew out of before. There were no issues thankfully, I was more concerned whether or not I was going to be able to watch the Rangers game than anything else. I got to watch some of the game and made the flight quicker for me. Kristen kind of enjoyed me watching the game because I couldn’t shout at the TV. Someone else did when the Rangers scored though haha.
Anyway, we arrived in SF around 2pm, took the BART into the city and checked into our hotel (Hotel Palomar). We got things organized, goofed off by taking funny pictures of these ugly leopard and zebra robes they had in the closet. We couldn’t just let the robes sit there without taking a picture of us with them on. Then we were off to explore. We were staying on Market Street and walked around that area a little bit. We stopped in Chinatown and grabbed some delicious food on Grant Ave. Our stomachs were still on Eastern Standard Time so we had to have an early dinner. We had some pork buns and sesame chicken. Can’t go wrong with going to Chinatown first. Well I guess you could if you picked a bad place to eat but the food was very good. It’s something about the way they made the sesame chicken over there that tasted different and better. After that, we headed down to the Ferry Building to walk around. We immediately fell in love with a cupcake/macaroons place called Miette. We wished there was a cool market like the places in the Ferry Building in Jersey City or Manhattan.
Kristen and I walked around The Embarcadero a little and just took it easy that day. We didn’t want to overdo it and burn ourselves out too much. So we went to bed early because the rest of the vacation was going to be very busy.
