Big D and the Kids Table @ The Fillmore at Irving Plaza, NYC – 2.6.09
February 11, 2009 | Concert Photography
I’m finally back with NEW concert photos! It’s been a long hiatus but i’m back and ready to post. This show (English Beat, Bad Manners and Big D and The Kids Table) was at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York City, one of my favorite clubs. Big D and the Kids Table was the opening band for the evening.
While I haven’t liked their performances in the past, they were okay this time around. I enjoyed their cover of the Specials’ “Little Bitch” a lot. The crowd seemed to like the band for the most part. Mostly the younger crowd liked Big D and were creating circle pits for them. As far as the photography is concerned, this entire set was with red lighting. I’ve found that the red lighting is cool but after awhile you don’t want every photo looking like that. So I try to fix up the photos in “post” and either put them in black or white, or dim down the red a little. I was happy there was a photo pit for this show, because I wanted to get up close as much as I could. I really hate taking pictures from the crowd. I short you see. For these guys, I only shot 3 songs but I think there wasn’t a restriction on that.
