Catbite @ Skanksgiving, Starland Ballroom, Sayreville, NJ – 11.30.19

Catbite played after Backyard Superheroes at Skanksgiving at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on November 30th 2019. You can read my full review at ReadJunk.com.

I never saw Catbite before so didn’t know how they would be live or how their setup was. They stood in their spots for the most part so had to switch between shots of the entire stage and individual shots. I was mainly focusing on Tim and Brittany though, especially Brittany. Not everyday you get a female keyboard player, singing. It was hard to capture her at times since I was trying to get the keys in the shot too. Had to attempt a few “hail mary’s” to get that.

For this set, the lighting was typical for Starland Ballroom, mostly shit. I like when they use the blue lighting but damn, stop with reds and purple lighting. I mainly used my 24-70 lens, and tried a few shots with the 50mm f1.4. that lens is really tricky to use. If you’re not focusing right on the eyes, it will look massively blurry.
