Carbon Leaf @ Gramercy Theatre, NYC – 11.2.18

One of my favorite bands, Carbon Leaf, played Gramercy Theatre in NYC on November 2nd. Like always, it was a blast to see them again and fun to photograph their show again. You can read my review over at ReadJunk.com, where I go more into detail on what they played the overall show performance.

I like when Carbon Leaf play Gramercy Theatre because the club is usually laid back on how many songs we can shoot in the pit. I decided it was 5, then I just wanted to enjoy the show, sing along in the crowd and dance a little. For the first 5 songs, I shot in the pit and the lighting was of course awesome. Carbon Leaf has had excellent stage lighting for all the years I’ve been seeing them live, starting back in 2009-ish.

I mainly used my 24-70mm f2.8 lens but broke out the 14-24mm f2.8 in the pit for part of a song and then later on when they came into the crowd, right by me. I love when they do that stuff, especially when it’s right by me. My twin brother took some shots with the telephoto lens in the crowd, which I would have except I was too busy dancing and singing.
