Mighty Mighty Bosstones @ Webster Hall, NYC – 7.15.15
July 17, 2015 | Concert Photography
I’ve been seeing the Mighty Mighty Bosstones since 1996 and still amazed how good of a live band they are. All these years and they still know how to bring it. For a full review of the show, be sure to read my concert review over at ReadJunk.com.
The last time I took photos of the Bosstones, it was 2012 and at Webster Hall. Dicky gave all the photographers a funny moment when he stood still for us to take the same picture. This time, I got him pointing the mic over for the crowd but it wasn’t staged. I’m not really crazy of their setup with the horns & everybody except Dicky and Ben up front though. Members do come up from time to time but I prefer if everybody moved up some but I guess they need room for Ben’s dancing. By the way, how is that guy still dancing so much. I would have dropped dead after the 2nd song.
The lighting was really bright and for the most part, pretty damn good. Maybe a little too powerful in the back at times. I used the 24-70mm f2.8 lens for first 3 songs and then when I wanted to capture a few moments from the crowd, I broke out the 70-200mm f2.8 lens. Glad I did since had a nice moment with Dicky and Mike from Street Dogs singing together.
I’m not sure if this is the last show I’m shooting for awhile (still might shoot a show or two in August) but it was a great one to shoot that’s for sure!
