The Prodigals @ Exchange Place, Jersey City, NJ – 9.29.13
October 10, 2013 | Concert Photography
Finally, back to some concert photography after all that travel photography, am I right!? It’s so nice walking out my door and a few minutes down the road to catch some music for free. Jersey City was having their Irish Festival (in September for some reason) and a few bands played at Exchange Place near the PATH station and Katyń Memorial.
I came late so I only saw a few songs by The Prodigals. I have one album by them so I knew 1 or 2 songs that they played in the time that I saw them. I was surprised to see that the crowd was a decent size for an Irish festival in September instead of March. I guess if there’s beer, food and music; people will show up. I have a feeling a lot of people from Hoboken came down for this since they didn’t have a parade last year.
For this set, I was using my 70-200mm f2.8 lens for the most part. I did break out the 24-70mm f2.8 a few times. I was shooting on DX mode a bunch as well because I wanted to get close-ups without getting in the way of people sitting down. The lighting outside was in an awkward time of day. It was shady, very blue out and tough to get decent photos honestly. But what can you do when you got some ugly metal stage background and the stage lighting wasn’t turned on?
