London Vacation 2012 – Day 6
December 9, 2012 | Travel Photography
Day 6 was kind of a leftovers day in a way, even though we still had 2 full days in London. We decided to venture over to Westminister area again, Kensington Gardens/Palace, Camden Town, and spent a lot more time at the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
Kristen and I started out the day back in Westminister area to see Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower/Parliament again, and to try to tour the Abbey but unfortunately they weren’t open until 12:30pm because of a service going on with the military. So that kind of sucked so we ended up walking around Kensington Gardens and seeing the outside of the Palace. We walked around the pond and then headed back to see the Princess Di memorial playground that has a pirate ship and Peter Pan theme stuff in it. We got shooed away because we didn’t have a damn kid with us. So we were pissed and decided to head up to Camden Town.
Camden Town is always fun to walk around when I go to London. I was looking for some caps but couldn’t find the right one. I ventured more around the open markets this time because usually I just stuck to the main street. I got some falafels and Kristen got a Steak & Ale pie. I could easily spend a half day in Camden Town just wandering all the different markets. Although, everybody shouting at you to buy their crap got old quickly. Half the time I don’t want to venture down the markets for that very reason. “No no, just looking” being repeated over and over.
After going to Camden Town, we headed back to the hotel for a little bit to rest up. Or in my case, take a quick power nap and then we headed back out to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Unlike last time we went, this time it was packed with people. Everyone was out to have a good time. We bought more treats, I got some hot chocolate and Kristen tried some mulled wine. We watched this interesting Austrian/German DJ named Joseph. It was part Oktober Fest / Techno and it was interesting combo. We witnessed college kids dancing on tables and getting kicked out. That was fun to see. I got a monster burger at one of the stands and scarfed that down in too seconds. I guess I was hungry haha.
All in all, it was kind of an off day even though we spent most of the day walking around.
