Mighty Mighty Bosstones @ Irving Plaza, NYC – 8.24.10
October 21, 2010 | Concert Photography
The final act of the night for this show was the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. The Bosstones played a sold out show at Irving Plaza in NYC back in August (yes I know I’m slow to post stuff). If you have never seen the Bosstones, do yourself a favor and get to one of their shows. They will be playing the 13th annual Hometown Throwdown in Boston right after Christmas.
You can read a more detailed review over at ReadJunk.com.
Shooting the Bosstones is always tough for me. The fact that there are so many band members, it’s tough to focus on them all. You have to get lots of Dicky shots, but then you try to make time for each member. Some members were in better lighting than others. Dicky was up front a lot, and did come over to me a few times to pose which is always great when singers & musicians do that! The lighting was better for the Bosstones than the previous 2 bands, and probably could have taken a lot more shots than I did in the back but decided to watch the show instead. Sometimes you get better shots further away with a telephoto lens at Irving Plaza. For this set, I mainly used my 70-200mm f2.8 for closeups and when I was in the back, and then my wide angle lens (that’s slowly falling apart). Wish I could afford a new lens but that bug pesky wedding and honeymoon is getting in the way of that hehehe.
