Chris Murray @ Webster Hall, NYC – 8.21.10
August 26, 2010 | Concert Photography
Chris Murray was opening act for the English Beat/Bad Manners show last Saturday at Webster Hall in NYC. I haven’t seen him since 1996 but glad I finally got the chance to see Chris play his catchy acoustic ska music!
I already did a full review of the show so head over to ReadJunk.com to read it.
As far as shooting goes, I was stationed right in front of the “photo pit” area. I was at the show early enough to get a perfect spot and I just stayed their the entire night. I was going to go into this so called photo pit but you seriously couldn’t even walk in there so I stayed where I was. Chris Murray doesn’t really move around all that much, so I just concentrated on getting some different angles with multiple lenses. Obviously the 50mm f1.4 and 70-200mm f2.8 were better than my wide angle lens in that there are super fast and clear. I walked over to the side of the crowd to use the telephoto and get a different perspective. Lighting was okay, nothing too special. Thankfully it wasn’t too dark.
