The last time I saw Less Than Jake, it was last July and I believe it was on my 29th birthday or near it. LTJ have a brand new album called “GNV FLA” that just came out on their label Sleep It Off Records. The band were the last ones on the Shout It Loud Tour with Goldfinger and played an awesome set of old & new songs.

Goldfinger co-headlined the Shout It Loud tour with Less Than Jake and I had the pleasure of shooting them for the first time Thursday night. It’s been a good 3 or 4 years since I last saw the band play so it was good to see them again. Their newest album “Hello Destiny” is out now on Side One Dummy and it’s a great album!

Westbound Train hail from Boston and brought the ska & soul to the packed Roseland crowd Thursday night. I saw Westbound Train last year in Circleville, NY for the Big Orange Bonanza and liked their sound. While I think they play good music, I think it would have been better for them to open up the show. Suburban Legends were more energetic I guess but WT still got the crowd moving. (more…)

Suburban Legends were the opening band on the Shout It Loud tour with Less Than Jake, Goldfinger, and Westbound Train. I never saw Suburban Legends before and I was impressed with their stage show and their fun ska rock music. (more…)

Instead of doing a blog on each set of the bands for this tour, i’ll just write up one giant blog. Last year, the Queers played Cafe Metropolis in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This year, they came back with the rest of the bands from the Asian Man Records tour. The other bands on the tour included Kepi Ghoulie from the Groovie Ghoulies, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Bomb The Music Industry and Lemuria.

I had the pleasure of shooting the Fratellis show for Prefixmag.com last Friday and I got some good shots of the Scottish rock band. Their new album “Here We Stand” is out now on Interscope Records and think it’s pretty good. It took me a few listens to really like it, and seeing the songs played live made me like the album even more. It was nice to finally hear songs from their first album as well.

Airborne Toxic Event opened up for The Fratellis last Friday at Webster Hall in New York City. I didn’t know what to expect from the band but after their set, I became a fan. It’s hard to describe their sound but I guess it’s considered indie rock? Their live show is very energetic and it was never boring to me. For this show, I was shooting for Prefixmag.com and I thought I got some great shots of both Airborne Toxic Event and The Fratellis.

I shot the Fratellis and Airborne Toxic Event at Webster Hall for Prefixmag.com Friday night. It was my first non-ReadJunk.com/SkaPunkPhotos.com assignment and it went really well. A lot of my photos are currently on prefix mag’s website here. I’ll have a lot of the photos on here this week, along with a show write-up but for now, please visit Prefixmag.com for all the photos from the show.

I’ve been a fan of The Kooks since their first album “Inside In/Inside Out” was released back in 2006. They are popular over in the UK but now they are just as popular over here in America. They have a new album out now called “Konk” and one of their stops on their tour were two nights in New York. Originally, the band was only going to play on June 11th (today) but they added another date when the concert sold out quickly. When that concert was added, I decided to get tickets & try to score a photo pass. I did get a pass and manged to get some great photos of the band!

The Morning Benders were the opening band for The Kooks at Terminal 5 last night in New York City. They are an indie/pop rock from Berkley, California and really warmed up the young crowd. I wasn’t familiar with the band beforehand but was impressed with their music. I’ll probably check out Morning Benders now that I saw them live. They played for at least a half hour and I shot the first third songs.
