The Cobbs @ Brooklyn Steel, NY – 5.14.17
May 16, 2017 | Concert Photography
The Cobbs from Philly opened up the Jesus and Mary Chain show at Brooklyn Steel in East Williamsburg on May 14th. You can read my full review of the show here.
This was the first time shooting at Brooklyn Steel and I liked it for the most part. What I didn’t like (although not the venue’s fault) was having to shoot from the sides of the photo pit for the 3 songs. You could walk back and forth but couldn’t go anywhere after the first monitor on stage. It was a bit annoying to say the least, especially when there was over 10 photographers shooting the show. I’m sure The Cobbs didn’t have this rule in place but the bouncers didn’t want to risk it and get in trouble.
So I tried to my best with the conditions. I used for this set, all three lens really quick but I believe stuck with the 70-200mm f2.8 lens for the most part. The lighting was okay for the 3 songs, although I think it was meant to be a bit moody for this show. The rig looks like it will impressive for other shows, just needs more front lighting for future shows but guess it’s up to the bands.
