Flag @ Punk Rock Bowling, Stone Pony Summerstage, Asbury Park, NJ – 6.12.16

Flag played before Cock Sparrer at Punk Rock Bowling on Day 2. My full review of the Day can be found here.

Right before Flag came on, my nauseous feeling was getting to be too much. I tried to fight it with a ginger ale and that didn’t help. I thought maybe going into the photo pit I would try to forget it. That didn’t help. In the first time in my life, I threw up at a concert. I ran out of the photo pit before Flag went on and puked up a bunch of that veggie taco I had earlier. I thought it was food poisoning but later found out it was a stomach bug. What an awful feeling. But after I threw up, I felt better…for at least a few songs.

I was able to shoot Flag thankfully since I never saw them, or Keith Morris before. Been a fan of Circle Jerks since I was a teenager so it was great to finally have seen him in person. The photo pit was packed so there wasn’t much moving around in there. Since it was Black Flag songs, they were pretty quick so you had to shoot away as fast as you can. I could have gotten some better photos of Flag but then again, I was happy I was still able to shoot them since I just puked a few minutes earlier.

After the 3 songs, the temperature dropped 20 degrees which made things worse and felt I was going to get sick again. It was a struggle to sit through Flag’s set, waiting for Cock Sparrer. No fault to the band but my stomach bug I was dealing with.
