The Slackers @ Irving Plaza, NYC – 12.19.15
December 28, 2015 | Concert Photography
The Slackers headlined their holiday show last week at Irving Plaza in NYC and I was there with my camera. A rare show for me since becoming a Father. If the show is on a weekend, I can probably go to them. Read the full review at ReadJunk.com.
I’ve shot the Slackers only a few times over my (almost) 20 year span of concert photography and think this batch is the best yet. Maybe I just knew their setup better and the lighting was ok at Irving for their set. I tried to dedicate enough time for each member of the band but did focus on Vic and Glen a lot since they are always the most active of the band. I took pictures from the side with the telephoto lens after the 3 songs were over.
I was developing a cold (that I just got over a week later) so I left the show early. I was kind of bummed since would have been cool to photograph the band and the Pietasters playing on stage and in the crowd during the encore.
