The Fad @ Gramercy Theatre, NYC – 4.10.15
April 12, 2015 | Concert Photography
The Fad opened up the Suicide Machines show the other night at Gramercy Theatre. It’s always fun shooting these guys on stage!
The Fad are fun to shoot but it’s not easy. Jimmy is always moving around, jumping and going to the crowd. You have to be really on your toes and have good camera lenses to get him in focus. I have good camera gear and still have a tough go at it. The lighting was darker for the Fad than the other sets. Or it was decent at times but since the band moves around a lot, it was tough getting some shots especially when Jimmy went near the crowd. Eventually the lighting guy put the lights on when people went by the crowd so that was great then.
For the first 3 songs, I used the 24-70mm f2.8 lens and then switched to 14-24mm f2.8 lens for a song. After that, I used the 70-200mm f2.8 lens up in the seat for a couple of minutes. I didn’t use that lens for the rest of the night though since I didn’t get a chance back up in the seats.
