MxPx @ Gramercy Theatre, NYC – 10.2.14
October 6, 2014 | Concert Photography
I’m not sure when the last time I saw MxPx but it was definitely at Warped Tour. Maybe 2005? So it’s been awhile since last seeing MxPx and shooting the band.
Tom and Yuri aren’t touring anymore so Mike was with some other guys. That didn’t really matter to me. Most bands that are still around for 20 years don’t have all the original members in the group. Its just bound to happen.
The lighting continued to be great for the show and offered different varieties of color. I wish Irving Plaza had good lighting like Gramercy does (another Live Nation venue). At least most shows I shoot at Gramercy have good lighting. As long as there’s some type of white front lighting, I’m a happy guy. Like the rest of the show, I shot around ISO 3200, f2.8, 1/200th and used the 24-70mm f2.8 lens. I’m itching to use the 14-24mm f2.8 lens that I just bought, not sure which show I’ll get to use that for though.
For some reason, I didn’t shoot after the 3 songs from the seats. I usually do that when I go to shows at Gramercy. Maybe I just couldn’t find a good spot with all the members of the band in frame. So I just sat back and enjoyed the show.
