Pilfers @ The Chance, Poughkeepsie, NY – 3.8.14

My last show was Pilfers at Gramercy Theatre and what do you know, I saw them again! This time they played The Chance, a venue they were supposed to play back in the earlier 00s but then they broke up. Despite all the earlier bullshit involved leading up to the show, this show was still a blast to see and photograph. You can read my longer review of the show at ReadJunk.com.

The Chance has some awesome lighting and it was displayed nicely that night. Its been about 6 years since last shooting a show at The Chance and was curious to see how my new camera and lenses would hold up. I was really happy with what I got. I was shooting around ISO 3200-4000 and shutter speeds were around 1/125-1/250 depending on the brightness. The colors & smoke in the background were really nice, especially a lot of the shots of Coolie. It was tough to get some decent shots of Nick and Anna at times, either because the stage is a little high or I was too busy dancing up front with my wife. You can imagine it’s tough dancing with camera gear but I can do both, I’m skilled like that!

I always have a great time seeing Pilfers, since they are one of my favorite bands and one of my favorites to photograph. After all, I’m the “official” photographer for them.
