Rude Boy George @ Characters, NYC – 11.16.13
November 17, 2013 | Concert Photography
New Wave Ska band Rude Boy George have taken up a residency at Electric Avenue at Characters in NYC, so there’s plenty of chances for people to catch their act! I believe they will be playing there again in December. Fans of new wave covers done in ska & rocksteady versions will dig this band!
Normally I tend to stay away from shows that start at 10pm but with Electric Avenue shows, it’s a chance to hang out with friends and see some good bands without all the usual bullshit that comes with going to other bigger music venues. Rude Boy George have some new members since the last time I saw them play so they had me take some quick shots of them before they went on.
For all the shows at Characters, I usually shoot with my flash but I really don’t like to use it that much. I brought along the 85mm f1.8 lens and got a lot of better results this time. I was still shooting around ISO 6400 but the shots came out nice! I did use the flash sporadically but prefer if I don’t have to use it. If there was just one more spotlight on a chair on the other side, it would make things a little bit better.
