I love Game of Thrones! I love the books and the TV series. I love it so much that I’ll take off and wake up early to wait on line for an hour to see the Game of Thrones Exhibition on 3 W 57th Street (between 5th and 6th). The exhibit is only in New York for a few days so if you plan on seeing it, better take 2 hours out of your day to see it!
My wife Kristen and I got up to 57th street around 9:30am and waited online for about an hour. The doors opened around 10:10am and then we were somewhat close to the front of the line. By the time we got inside, the line was a block long so definitely prepare to wait a little bit to get inside. Trust me, it’s worth it though. The exhibit has lots of stuff from the TV series’ three seasons. Costumes, swords, masks, and of course the Iron Throne itself! You can take a free photo of you on the Iron Throne and have it sent to your email/Facebook and have it printed out too. I thought I’d have to wait long to take a picture and to pay for the photo but thankfully we didn’t.
There’s an interactive Blackwater Bay game where you shoot arrows to make the WildFire explode. Kristen played that but I didn’t feel like playing it. She scored a 3 out of 5. We spent 45 minutes inside and it wasn’t too crowded inside after awhile. There’s lots of people around but nothing too crazy. My favorite pieces from the show include The Hound’s helmet, the Hand of the King badge, The letter to Robb Stark written by Theon, The Night Watch’s clothes and the Renly’s crown….and of course replica Iron Throne.
After the GOT Exhibit, Kristen and I spent a few minutes inside FAO Schwarz and in Central Park before heading down to Lower East Side for some mexican food at Taqueria on Orchard Street. It was too nice out to go back home right away.
Did you know prints are available for purchase? Well they are and you’ll certainly help me out if you bought a print! Just Let me know which photo you’re interested in (please provide alt tag or #) and I’ll give you a quote. Photos are also available for licensing to your website, magazine, facebook page, etc. as well.
