London Vacation 2012 – Day 4

December 7, 2012 | Travel Photography

Day 4 in London was a rainy day, which meant a day of museums. Not that exciting but it was a nice time anyway and museums in London are free, which always helps. We visited The National Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, National History Museum, Harrods, and Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

We started things off with breakfast at Kopapa in Leicester Square / Covent Garden area. The meal was delicious and provided us with enough fuel to see a bunch of museums for the day. We then then walked down to Trafalgar Square where the National Gallery is. Apparently Tom Cruise was there on Sunday, filming parts of a movie. I think I even captured him in the helicopter or at least the copter that was used because that was being flown over us near Parliament. But anyway, that stuff wasn’t there this day. After walking around National Gallery for a little bit, we headed down to where the other museums were. We saw Buckingham Palace again, when it wasn’t so crazed with the changing of the guard. We went into Harrods’ food hall, which was great because there was so many treats! We got a cupcake and some other things to eat as a lunch before heading into the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Kristen liked the Victoria and Albert Museum more than I did but it was ok. She paid for a special exhibit where it was a bunch of Hollywood costumes and outfits but I didn’t go because I didn’t want to pay 16 pounds for it. After that, we went to National History Museum which was eh to me. I liked the building more than what was inside the museum. It was just kind of boring and I’m never really a fan of stuffed animals on display.

After that, we went to Harrods again and walked around some more floors and then it was to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. This isn’t your typical Christmas market like you see in Union Square or something. This place was HUGE with a ton of rides and little markets, Oktober Fest style halls, and various stages where bands entertain the crowd. We just wanted to see what it was like but we knew we’d come back again because it looked like a lot of fun. I wouldn’t go on any rides but its fun watching others to do it. It was just too damn cold to go up in a Ferris Wheel haha. We got some desserts and I got some awesome Stroopwafels that I always crave when I’m in Europe. It’s hard to find good Stroopwafels over in NYC.
