The Flatliners @ Irving Plaza, NYC – 8.24.10

Life has been so chaotic for me that I haven’t had time to update my photography website at all. Shows have been very limited this summer but I managed to see 2 shows in the same week so that was a bit odd. The Mighty Bosstones show happened back in August 24th at Irving Plaza. The opening band were The Flatliners.

Shooting this show was a bit clunky in that I didn’t know what was going on. First I just had a ticket and no pass, then MMB tour manager got me a pass, then the security guards are telling me “I’m the guy who has full access to the photo pit.” I was a bit shocked to hear that considering I never have that. So when shooting this set, I shot over 3 songs but I still felt weird about it left around 5 songs. Wanted to save up my photos for The Bosstones.

I shot theses guys at Irving Plaza back in 2008 when they opened for NOFX. I liked shooting the bassist since he made silly faces and had cool poses with his bass. The lighting could have been a little better for this set but I’m not gonna be picky about it. Some venues have better lighting than others and Irving Plaza is a wash. Sometimes its good, sometimes its not.
