English Beat @ Webster Hall, NYC – 8.21.10
September 10, 2010 | Concert Photography
Dave Wakeling and English Beat are celebrating their 30th anniversary release for I Just Can’t Stop It. Many of the songs from that album were featured in their set back in August 21st, 2010 at Webster Hall in NYC. It was quite the fun ska show that day, with the fantastic English Beat headlining. Dave Wakeling is an excellent performer and knows how to get the crowd dancing. If you didn’t attend the show, you missed out!
I already did a full review of the show so head over to ReadJunk.com to read it.
Like the other bands that played before the English Beat, I switched lenses throughout the set. I stayed in the same spot for the entire show which is remarkable for me because I usually have to move at some point. The downside to staying in one spot is you can’t get photos of every band member. I tried my best to get other shots of other musicians but basically I was trying to focus on Dave and the sax player. It was tough to get some shots of some members as well because of the back lighting. But thankfully not as bad as the last time I shot them at Irving Plaza.
Towards the end of the set, I went up in the balcony and snapped off a few shots of the English Beat to get a different perspective. I actually should have went up there sooner since it was nice to sit down and just use my telephoto lens. Oh well. I guess next time.
