Ida Maria @ Webster Hall, NYc – 3.30.09
April 1, 2009 | Concert Photography
Norwegian singer Ida Maria and her backing band were the opening act at Monday’s Glasvegas show at Webster Hall in NYC. I’m not familiar with Ida Maria’s music at all but she certainly made the shooting experience interesting.
The band played an introduction without Ida, and I got a few shots of them in the process. She came out in this crazy looking dress, and had Buckwheat hair. Yes, that Buckwheat. I knew the moment she walked on stage this was going to be a set all about her, because she looks interesting. Especially for a photographer point of view… I took most of the photos of Ida Maria, and when I had a chance or two, I’d get a few shots of the other members. Towards the end of the 3 songs I was allowed to shoot, she came up close to the edge of the stage, and was bending over. She began licking her lips and I was in a prime spot and got the photo. I’m just glad I had the right lens on at the time, which was the 50mm f1.4 lens. I used my other other lenses as well, the 70-200mm f2.8 and 18-70mm f3.5 lenses. I’m happy with the way the photos came out and the top Ida Maria photo made my day.
