Katy Perry became famous right as she started the The Vans Warped Tour. I had no idea who the hell she was until she started the tour. Her number 1 hit single “I Kissed the Girl” is the song of the summer and many people flocked to the Hurley.com stage to see her perform at the Warped Tour in Scranton, PA. I wanted to make sure to get some photos of her because she’s popular now, plus she’s not too bad on the eyes either.

After seeing the Horrorpops perform on the Hurley.com stage, I decided to stick around that area until Katy came on. I took some photos of Sky Eats Plane on the Smart Punk stage and then it was time for Katy Perry. The crowd was starting to fill in every little spot to see her perform, and I decided to just wait in the photo pit so I didn’t have to deal with that. When she arrived on stage, she had a pink umbrella and wore a short blue dress. Katy Perry actually looks like the twin sister of actress/She & Him singer Zooey Deschanel. I noticed her dress was really short and the stage was high up so I guess she didn’t care about…certain angles that photographers had?

Later on in the third song, Katy decided to run across the other stage to the Hurley.com stage. Then she did a cartwheel and I managed to get some decent photos of that, along with an underwear shot. She played innocent like she didn’t really think that was going to happen. I didn’t know whether or not to post that photo but then I said to myself, “she’s on stage doing this in front of thousands of people, so I guess it’s okay.” I wouldn’t post the photo if she was getting out of a car and pulled a “Britney.” I don’t really want to be considered the Paparazzi but you got to figure she does this every show.

Katy definitely drew one of the biggest crowds of the day, which made me scratch my head as to why Kevin Lyman stuck her on the dinky Hurley.com stage? Clearly she should have been on the main stage. I didn’t really think she fit the Warped Tour lineup but then again neither did Kid Rock and Enimem. But overall, her live show was okay but I only stuck around for 5 songs. That’s the problem with shooting the Warped tour, never getting to see certain acts because you have to go to another stage. But here’s some of the best photos from the Katy Perry set:
