Last time I saw Street Dogs, it was back in 2005 on the Warped Tour at Randall’s Island. I got a great shot of Mike jumping from the speakers and I was hoping to get another one this year. The band was one of the few bands I really wanted to check out this year on the tour. Mike always brings his “A game” when he comes to performing and this year they didn’t disappoint either!

As the clouds were coming in, the Street Dogs hit the stage. I was hoping it wasn’t going to rain during the first 3 songs. Thankfully it didn’t. I did however get accidental spat on by one of the guitarist. I was shooting on the right hand size of the stage, trying to get some shots and he just spat on stage and the spray came right on my face and camera. Not sure if it was an accident or not but I got sort of pissed. I was giving the guitarist a “what the fuck!?” face and he whispered something like sorry, i’m sorry. At least that’s what I thought he said. Anyway, The band played great and Mike tried his hardest to get the crowd into it. By the end of the their set, he got a majority of the crowd to slamdance there way around the soundboard tents. Before that, I was trying to get shots of the circle pits and ended up being in one giant circle pit. I was worried about my girlfriend because she was in other part of the crowd. We got out of that one okay though. Some of the notable songs that they played included “Fighter,” “Toby’s Got A Drinking Problem,” “In Defense of Dorchester” and a great cover of Black Flag’s “Rise Above.”

For this set, I used the 18-70mm f3.5 exclusively. The telephoto wouldn’t have worked because Mike McColgan was constantly moving. He’d go back and forth from stage to going to the security gate. I love when he went to the gate and sang with kids because it made for some great photos. That’s really about it for this set, check out the best photos below:
