The last time I saw Less Than Jake, it was last July and I believe it was on my 29th birthday or near it. LTJ have a brand new album called “GNV FLA” that just came out on their label Sleep It Off Records. The band were the last ones on the Shout It Loud Tour with Goldfinger and played an awesome set of old & new songs.

I’m not sure what songs they played or in what order. I liked that they played stuff from “Losing Streak” and “Hello Rockview” since those are my favorite albums. I also loved when they played the songs “Rest of my Life” and “The Science of Selling Yourself Short.” the new album has some good tracks on it but not sure what I think about the album as a whole yet. Have to give it a few more listens. But the band brought their fun, lively ska-punk show to NYC and didn’t let up at all. They posed for cameras, they interacted with fans, they were jumping all over the place and they were shooting confetti out into the crowd. Of course I didn’t have the right lens on at that moment so I missed that.

I did get a lot of great photos of Roger and the rest of the band. The photo pit was packed with security and other photographers (who decided to show up just for the last band). It was hard moving around and also switching different lenses around. I was mainly using my 18-70mm f3.5 lens but was also using my 50mm f1.4 lens a lot too. I wish I could have shot their whole set because those guys always put on a good show. It just always seems like photographers miss out on some things that happen later in their sets. Maybe the band will give me all access next time (*hint hint*) but I was just lucky to even get on the list. It’s always so much FUN having to wait a half hour and deal with cranky, unfriendly managers who treat me like I’m a 10 year old when they don’t put me on the list. Thanks to Tim for fixing the situation though. Anyway, enough of that…Check out some of the photos below:
