Top Ten Favorite Concert Photos of 2008…so far

I’ve been to quite a few shows this year (more than usual it seems), and most of these shows I’ve been scoring photo passes. So I figured I’d post my top ten favorite photos of 2008 so far. I’ll probably have another blog with my favorite photos towards the end of the year as well. But since I don’t have any shows coming up until the DeVotchKa show on May 20th, I’d figured I’d post this now. As always, comments are very much appreciated!

1. Flogging Molly @ The Chance – Poughkeepsie, NY

Flogging Molly have amazing lighting and each time I shoot them in a club, I always get some kick ass photos. This is one of them! You can also see this photo on Blender.com here.

2. The Rocket Summer @ Irving Plaza – NYC

On assignment for Alternative Press Magazine, I thought this photo of Bryce of The Rocket Summer was my best shot of the evening and perhaps of the year (so far).

3. The Pogues @ Roseland – NYC

The Pogues lighting is always EXTREMELY dark and I can never get a good shot of Jem Finer…until now.

4. She and Him @ Webster Hall – NYC

Out of all the She and Him photos, I felt this one was the best one I got of Zooey Deschanel performing.

5. New Model Army @ Maxwells – Hoboken, NJ

I love this shot because it captures Justin Sullivan’s wild eyes & facial expressions. Thankfully I brought my telephoto with me to get this shot.

6. Forever the Sickest Kids @ Irving Plaza – NYC

The opening band on the AP Tour, Forever the Sickest Kid gave me a few good shots. This one was my favorite out of their set.

7. Billy Bragg @ Roseland – NYC

I thought this Billy Bragg photo captured the way he performs the best.

8. Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band @ The Chance – Poughkeepsie, NY

I don’t normally take too many aeriel photos but I really like this photo of Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band playing at the Chance.

9. Pilfers @ The Knitting Factory – NYC

I always love taking photos at Pilfers shows. This one could be my all-time favorite of Coolie and the Pilfers.

10. Rogue Wave @ Irving Plaza – NYC

Rogue Wave’s lighting was dark and pretty bad but I did manage to get this cool shot.
